The Honorary Consul General

Godwin E. Bencini had a long and successful career in the financial services industry.  He is considered to be a leading authority on life insurance, in Malta.

He attended many  Management and Insurance courses both in Malta and overseas, and also participated in a large number of international conferences and seminars in Europe, the Caribbean and the Far East.  One of the management courses he attended was a residential one, titled Management by Objectives, at Churchill College, Cambridge University, England. He has given insurance related talks to different audiences, among which was the staff of a leading international firm of accountants.  He is also the author of a number of articles in the local press and magazines, and he has participated in several programs on different radio stations.

He served as director on a number of public and private boards.  He was vice-President of ‘Assocasione Siracusa-Malta’, an association formed to foster the exchange of cultural and commercial ties between Malta and Syracuse.  He was also vice-President of Malta Lions Club – Host.  He is the Dean of the Honorary Consular Corps of Malta.

He was a very keen sportsman, and was selected to represent the  Malta Amateur Athletic Association and the Malta Amateur Football Association, on a number of occasions.

Godwin Bencini was decorated by Slovak President Ivan Gasparovic, and awarded the Order of Merit of the Slovak Republic.  He also received the prestigious award of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajcak.

Newswebsite Honorary Consul General Mr. Godwin E. Bencini today announced that the Honorary Consulate for the Slovak Republic in Malta has launched its new website. This website is aimed at brining together the Slovak community in Malta, inform them of the Honorary Consulate's work and act as a bridge between Slovakia and Malta. Mr. Bencini encourages all Slovaks, both in Malta and abroad, to engage with this website, share their views and participate in the consulate's affairs.
